Early on, we came to realize that to provide superb training we not only needed the best curriculum and great customer experience, but we also needed passionate, engaging people to deliver our training programs. Our instructors have to be energetic, intelligent, and motivated. They have to be great with people. They have to go through a rigorous training program. We make sure they have it all.

Once your teen has a license, can you relax? Most parents can’t. We know how very quickly bad situations can arise on the road. Cars pull out unexpectedly. Drivers change lanes without looking. Pets and children run into the street. The Reality Check is our unique half-day of learning emergency skills in a safe setting; it gives drivers the skills they need to be prepared.

SWERVE encourages parents to be part of the process. Parents attend our first class along with their teens; they know from day one what our classes and drives are like. We provide tools to help parents be informed, including: graded reports and a detailed prescription about what to practice, online tools for how to be a good coach to a teen behind the wheel, and access to instructors to get their questions answered.

Teaching teens to be great drivers takes a lot of planning. When our students get behind the wheel they’re following carefully designed routes that teach skills in a very particular order. The routes take them through a safe, challenging progression -from slow and simple parking lots, to busy city intersections, to freeway merges and finally a graduation drive.

We use exams to get our students thinking, and we’re constantly amazed at the result. Our students leave our courses knowing not just rules and techniques. Instead, they’ve thought hard about maturity and responsibility and what it means behind the wheel. We have their essays to prove it.

Sooner or later, the moment comes. You’re looking out the window, and what you see is the tail-lights of the family car disappearing up the street with your teen behind the wheel. What we want for you in that moment is peace of mind—the kind of calm that comes from being certain your child is safe. We train teenagers to drive well, but more than that, we motivate them to use what they know, to be responsible, and stay collision-free.

We set out to change the way people drive. We started with just a few cars, just a few instructors, and a lot of passion.
